AI Mistakes: Meta AI and its new ChatGPT are struggling with fundamental math problems

Meta AI and ChatGPT are among the several AI chatbots whose programming empowers them to generate text that seems like it has been written by a human being. But recently they proved they have difficulties even with basic activities, such as mathematics.

For instance, in an operation asking, ”What is 654 plus 237”, Meta AI gave the wrong result by providing the answer 881 while the correct answer should have been 891. Here, ChatGPT provided the incorrect sum as 811. On the positive side, they also pointed such pitfalls such mistakes display show that while these systems may be capable of producing elaborate text, basic arithmetic is not within their purview.

Unfortunately, this is not something that occurs only once. Others have same issue where AI provided wrong information or messed up with numbers. For instance, a number of AI models have time or numerical values perhaps indicating that they have not fully grasped precise tasks.

Essentially, the learned generate texts such as essays and stories well, but when it comes to logic and mathematics, they underperform. Thus, one should always consult the important number provided by the AI to ensure it is correct, or use other means to independently verify the information.

Namely, as the AI technology progresses, the developers have to address the issue of enhancing these systems’ ability to reason logically. Still, the use of such an approach is advisable with caution and checking essential information provided by AI. Thus, in spite of all the progress associated with the integration of AI, simple addition seems to present a difficulty that even these systems cannot always overcome.

Proof of Mistakes:

Altogether, the exciting capabilities of Meta AI, as well as ChatGPT, in text generation are astounding, although they failed in simple multiplication problems. The application of AI should always be accompanied with reviewing the information because, after all, nothing is perfect.
