Use of ChatGPT in the workplace: 92% of Indian offices have incorporated the AI tool

Indian’s has fallen in love with OpenAI’s conversational AI ChatGPT, a tool that has stormed into workplaces. According to the recent survey conducted by the time-tracking platform DeskTime, more than 92% of offices in India are already working with ChatGPT.

The study was conducted between January, 2023 and March, 2024 using data of 297 companies and 14,818 employees from India. According to a survey conducted among Indians, 42.6% of office workers have started using ChatGPT by March 2024 which increased compared to the previous year statistics.

Based on the emergent analysis, 95.5% of Indian firms are supporting the chat GPT to make them efficient and employees are ahead of their employers in using AI tools at workplace. Indian employees are currently devoting 241 hours annually using AI tools as per HRKatha out of which the country ranks first.

Talking about the unprecedented growth, DeskTime CEO Artis Rozentals exemplified, “The increasing usage of ChatGPT an indication of more creative and efficient work environments in India; it also underlines the innovative smarts of Indian employees and the global benchmarks of Indian work environments on integrating AI to supplement human dexterity.”

However, it is evident that the highest increase in ChatGPT usage was observed from January to April of the year 2023 where the number of users doubled from 13% to 28% of the employees. Ever since, while it has not experiencing the vast levels of exponential growth seen in the early years, the use of social networks has only been increasing gradually.

It is evident that various departments, including customer support, content writing, HR, admin, and even senior management are already employing ChatGPT for compiling meeting summaries, memo, and letter writing, content creation for social media profiles, creating sales pitches, programming, and even routine office work.
